Old Ottawa East: Siding & Doors Project
Dear Nuden:
During the summer of 2008, we hired Nuden Vinyl Products Inc. to completely replace the siding on our house, as well as install a new front door and new sliding patio doors to our backyard. After dealing with dozens of companies throughout an extensive renovation of our house in Old Ottawa East, I can honestly say that our experience with Nuden impressed us the most.
It began with our in-home consultation with sales representative Sylvain. He was extremely knowledgeable, not only about the technical specifications of Nuden’s unique product line, but he was able to explain in clear, plain language why Nuden’s Eminence siding with Gorilla-Lok™ System was superior to siding offered by competitors, and how this investment would positively impact our home’s value, as well as result in improved energy efficiency that would save us money.
We never felt pressured by Sylvain, and he was patient with our many questions. He provided us with a detailed list of local properties that had used Nuden’s services so we could see samples of their product on other homes. He offered us a competitive payment plan that guaranteed we would not have to pay off the balance of the job until we were 100% satisfied with the work that was done.
After researching both the products and customer service options of several other companies and confirming Nuden’s stellar reputation with the Better Business Bureau, not to mention taking into consideration their 35 years of experience in the industry, we decided to hire Nuden.
At no point in the evolution of our renovation did we regret our decision.
The Nuden crew was both a pleasure to deal with and extremely skilled at their job. The two-man siding team worked quickly and efficiently, even in the face of some unusual quirks they encountered upon discovering that our home’s foundation was not level. An innovative solution was devised to remedy the situation, and the crew made sure to involve me in this decision before any corrective action was taken.
Crew members also clearly took pride in their work. After resigning myself to the fact that our external attic door was not conducive to siding in the same manner as the rest of the house, I was thrilled when a crew member put in extra effort to install the product in an unconventional approach that ensured the final product was aesthetically pleasing. It would have been much easier to just say this unusually shaped door made it impossible to do a clean job, but the Nuden team was not satisfied with this and took the initiative to go the extra mile.
Another aspect of Nuden’s attention to detail was how the crew went out their way each night to clean up the job site and ensure their materials were stacked neatly in our yard. We particularly appreciated this effort because we have two small dogs that could have been injured by nails or other sharp building debris if the crew had been careless.
We were also very pleased with Nuden’s ability to match the right crew member to the job. Although many companies employ workers who do a lot of things moderately well, Nuden’s employees are specialists in their field, ensuring you get a highly skilled technician with proven experience for the task at hand. This meant that our new front door and sliding patio doors were installed by a door specialist who took the time to do it right and ensure the installation finishing touches complemented the work done by the siding installers.
In fact, when the door specialist noticed that our old doors weren’t put in with adequate insulation under the floorboard and around the frame, resulting in years of energy loss, he made a special trip to get more insulation and fixed the situation without charging us a penny extra for his time or materials than what was quoted to us in our original contract.
In addition, we were impressed with Nuden’s commitment to finishing the job by the deadline we had requested for the project. When one worker had to leave midday due to a family emergency, Nuden owner M. Piquette arranged for the crew to return on a Saturday morning so they would not fall behind schedule.
Over the course of the job we were impressed with Nuden’s quality control. Both our sales rep Sylvain and Nuden’s owner M. Piquette personally visited the site several times not just to inspect the progress of the job, but to speak with us and ensure we were completely happy with how things were proceeding. (With other companies, we were lucky if we could get someone on the phone once the sales pitch was over, let alone speak to the owner in person about our customer service concerns!)
True to their word, Nuden finished the job on time and on budget, and they did not bill us until the owner had inspected the entire house with us to ensure the workmanship met both our expectations and Nuden’s exacting standards for quality.
I would not hesitate to recommend Nuden to anyone looking to invest their money wisely and work with a company that takes care of their home like it was their own. When our windows and roof need to be replaced, you can be sure a call to Nuden will be our first move.
